NRP Sagres III

I have liked and been interested in photography since my early teens. I remember when my father brought me a little Olympus Stylus from a trip to Europe. I was marveled with this little camera that allowed me to capture my first pictures. Probably spent quite some money on developing since we hadn’t entered the age of digital photography yet. But I was too young to care about such mundane capitalist things. All I wanted was to register those moments.

A great chance presented itself when the NRP Sagres III came to our port of Recife and was opened for visitation. My father brought me to see why this ship was (and still is) one of the jewels of the Portuguese Navy: she has been part of the Portuguese navy since 1961 and performs trips around the world as part of the training of Portuguese sailors and is certainly a very beautiful example of a tall ship. I took many photographs, a few of which I share with you here.
